Krumm. Yeah, I guess her comeback has about run its course -- Don't want to see her collect Musterish results.

Donna drew the perfect opponent in the 1R. Sigh. He is an intolerable little mope.

Not really interested in any of the women's matches being played right now. Picked Fran the Man vs Voskoboeva to watch nearly at random. Galina is playing horribly. Can't return serve to save her life and can't find the court with her FH.

Caro cruises against NLV. Lady JaJa up 6-2, 5-0 against Riske.
Business as usual.

Endless deuce game, Galina finally breaks by getting angry and hitting a colossal FH winner DTL.

Akgul and Mirjana winning are total shockers. I did not give either the slightest hope in hell. Well, just in time to semi-salvage their rankings temporarily, I guess. I support both in theory, right up until I have to watch them, so I guess I'm happy. Krumm I am so annoyed about, because I love her in theory and in practice. How can the woman who gave us one of the year's best matches fail to actually win anything, over the easiest opposition, elsewhere? But yes, it's TTR now Probably TTR for Tammy as well How the hell does Brianti spend the year being an irritating thorn in the side of players I like, but when it comes to someone I dislike (Vandeweghe) she can't work that same magic?

Dokic wins a set. I just hope we don't have to go through her losing a tight second set and disappearing in the third.

Gulbis's first Slam win since Wimbledon 2009. Straight-sets over the #16 seed and former SFist here. Of course.

Goodbye Youzhny's points.
Dokic up an early break in the second.
Petko about to finish Bychkova easily.
Gulbis was a terrible floater to draw but so is Davydenko, isn't he? One set all with Dodig.
Vosko breaks Franny for 2-0 in the second. This is a dangerous match for Fran.
Dokic saved at least one bp to reach 3-0 in the second.

Dokic wins a set. I just hope we don't have to go through her losing a tight second set and disappearing in the third. so far, she's okay ... almost afraid to look, even though it's 63 30 right now ... and she was down in this last service game, so I assumed it was all coming apart, but so far, so good!

Oh, by the way, US Open? Your scoreboard is ratshit.
Dodig from 0-40 back to deuce in the first game of the third.

So how bad is Tsonga's draw? A potential encounter with Verdasco in the third round followed by one with Fish in the fourth. Then another match with Mr. Federer. You might favor him in that prospective Fed match if there's anything left after what he'll have to do to get that far. If.

Or, you could look at it like: Verdasco has been crappy and crabby all year, Fish is NOT GOOD IN THE FIRST PLACE GODDAMNIT AND UGH, and...it's the QF, you're gonna get one of the Big Four, and it's pretty sweet if it's the one you've beaten twice this summer already.

Why can bug serving Rebecca from Canada suddenly not win matches all of a sudden? Fifth loss in a row, this time to Dulko. www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=19942322&postcount=16She has weapons but is a bad tennis player, in the same sense that Riske or Glatch are bad tennis players. Plus Dulko has made a cottage industry out of dismantling players with glaringly obvious and easily exploitable weaknesses such as her.

Can't really imagine how raw a poor man's Petkovic's technique must be. I guess that's the sort of player who gets big results immediately but is figured out by the tour quite soon. Voskoboeva is GOOD. Not just the big bashing, she's knocking off volleys and coming up with angles too. Why wasn't she this good in her first career?
