Bye Brinyi & thanks for the reports! Match has turned into an exciting one! Great experience for JHH either way, but i'd love for her to win it -- she doesn't have to parallel Kim in EVERYTHING.

Justine has found her winning groove again. Her play since her latest comeback has been clutch and very impressive being able to win big so soon after returning the the WTA Tour. I really think Henin and Clijsters are the co-favorites for the French Open. And I hope both are given top 5 seeds even if they are not ranked in the top 5 by the French Open. Wimbledon seeds however they want to. Why shouldn't Roland Garros do the same? But I think it's vital that Juju not over play going into Roland Garros. She is playing so well that she might tire herself out for Roland Garros. I think she should consider pulling out of a tournament before the French Open to rest up if she is feeling the least bit tired. How mnay tournaments is Justine playing before Roland Garros? Four? Hi Janie, Vaiva and Chloe! And happy birthday Chloe!

Hi cat! Justine has made up her schedule very carefully; she has just one more event, Berlin, scheduled before RG. So after Berlin, she has at least 2 weeks (or more, depending on how she does in berlin) to recharge her batteries and practice.
Part of an article on the match:
The Russian, who lost the 2004 final to Venus Williams, allowed a 3-1 lead to slip away in the final set, but it was Henin-Hardenne's aggression that won her the match, rather than Kuznetsova's nerves.
"It was a great battle at the end of the match," said Henin-Hardenne.
"It was very hard for me in the beginning. She was hitting the ball very hard. She's very powerful and I was too defensive.
"So in the second set I tried to change that. It wasn't still my best tennis, but then in the third set I was doing what I have to do all the time and finally it paid off."

Wow! Great win for JHH! Her & Kim's comebacks have totally mimicked each others, both reaching QF in 1st tourney back then winning 2nd and 3rd tourneys in a row!
The super picky side of me would prefer she play Roma instead of Berlin. Berlin is this week right? So thats 2 weeks in a row, Id rather her take this week off after another nice title, go to Rome, then have a week off b4 RG. That would be ideal, but I suppose this sked will do.

"I am never going to be the same player any more. Maybe I'll be better, but I will be different that's for sure. I used to play like a machine, now I play a lot more with my feelings. I enjoy it more than before my illness. In that way it's been a great experience."

I think scootad may turn out to be right -- wouldn't Justine have been better off playing in Rome, because now she's got to play 2 matches tomorrow (only if she wins the first one, that is!). And it's not like she got to rest up today; she was on the schedule for late today, but rain & long matches ultimately pushed her off the schedule. So: JHH vs Iveta B @ 11 tomorrow, then, allegedly, two hours following that, the winner of that plays Kirilenko. Not too nice, but that's how it is now that they've ruled out any accomodations to top players returning from injury breaks -- the lack of a first round Bye is, in this case, going to make a huge difference for Justine. Oh well, c'est la darn vie!

Iveta, darn her, put up a good fight, so Justine needed 3 sets to get rid of her. Now a bit of rest, and then Kirilenko! Am just hoping for no more rain at this point. Justine waited around in the rain for 3 hours yesterday before getting called off.

6-2 Kirlenko
Yes, I would not be too dismayed if she were to lose this. Although it would give Matt Cronin an orgasm, since he wrote:
"There has been a tendency to jump to some very large conclusions about Justine Henin-Hardenne's title runs in Charleston and Warsaw. Just because the former No. 1 grinded her way to two titles does not mean that she's the the out-and-out favorite to win Roland Garros."
Since I'm not a subscriber I can't read the rest, but I can be reasonably sure I'm not missing much. ;D
I'm also sorry he wasn't in my second grade class when we were taught the past tense of "grind".

4-1 JHH in the second I should add that if the wins, I won't be too dismayed either.

5-1 Matt Cronin was the greatest apologist for Kournikova, gushing just a couple years ago over the many titles she won -- about 8 years earlier, as a Junior! So I consider it a compliment to Justine to be disparaged by him, since he's clearly brain-dead. ;D
