I think his comments would be more relevant to the *glamorous* bra flashing pic. That's true Willow. You're very gifted at interpreting verbiage. I in fact I meant to post that *glamorous* photo of Lucic but the other one came up instead. On a side note you seem to like the word "glamorous" especially when it's spelled correctly. I bet it's your favorite Fergie song. ;D And don't feel bad Willow because I forgot about Oudin too. Good luck to Lucic in her second round match against Chakvedatze. Mirjana will have to play very well just to even have a realistic chance to win.

Mirjana lost 26 57, but did fight back from 26 14. And kept the Chalky One out there for almost an hour and a half, which is very respectable. So I think this was a pretty successful week for her altogether, after so many years out of competition, and I bet she's pretty excited about it, too.

Well done to Mirjana on playing Chakvedatze tough after being down 2-6 0-4. I think this respectable loss against the world #11 will help her confidence just as much as winning her first round match did. P.S. - Happy 25th birthday to Mirjana Lucic yesterday March 9, 2007. I can't believe she's 25! It seems like just recently she was only 15 and ready to join Anna Kournikova, Martina Hingis and the Williams sisters as the next big things in women's tennis in 1997. It never happened for Mirjana then. But maybe it will now. Atleast she can play in peace now without having to worry about being abused mentally and physically by her father.

The thinking seems to be she won't get into Miami because its an IMG event. So no idea where shes playing next.

No. She's in the process of suing IMG; they're not going to be handing her a WC.

Lucic is suing IMG? I forgot about that. More drama for this girl. I hope she can build some momentum in her career this spring and find a comfort level of playing regularly. Even if most of her tournaments are challengers.

Right now she's not on any entry lists for upcoming challengers, which seems crazy. Does she expect to rely only on WCs? Don't think that's going to work.

Mirjana has reportedly received a main draw WC into the "Rome - Tiro a Volo", whatever that is, $100K, starting May 7. I hope she'll play; this would be her 3rd event and finally she'll have a ranking again. But she's really got to play more often than this if she means business.

Janie, it's a bad decision by Lucic to play so little tournament tennis. She did well in Indian Wells but that was about 5 weeks ago and hasn't played since. By the time Mirjana plays this 100k challenger in Rome in early May it will have been about 2 months since she last played a match. I can't see Lucic finding her form and becoming a good player again with this kind of scheduling.

I don't think she's so penniless she can't travel to Mexico and play 10K qualies there. You don't need a ranking for those.

We all agree she should be playing, anywhere, at any level. But I guess ML hasn't found this board yet, because she's not doing what we want her to.

Finally some news. Apparently, Mirjana was ill after IW, and that's why she wasn't playing. Now she's ready to go, & she has received a WC into the Rome $100K next week. Despite being a 100K, it's a weak field because the players are spread very thin between numerous other challengers plus a Tier 4. So, if Mirjana can remember how to play on clay, she has a chance to do well. And she'll have a ranking again.

from a wtaworld poster who met Mirjana and her sister Ana at the Rome event yesterday:
well, she is hitting really good ans she seems confident yesterday she hitted with Ferguson and Tony Roche was there and gave advices to Miki too I spoke to Mirjana and Ana or a couple of hours in the afternoon and she is sweet and nice..very gentle and a very good girlWe spoke of thousand thinghs but the most important is that she is happy to stay on the court and she can't wait to play She asked for a Double wc too in Tiro a Volo but its very difficult to obtain one cause of the tons of italian girls around She is happy because after Rome she will have a ranking and it will be easy to enter Itf tournaments.

The new Mirjana: Wow Mirjana is in great shape! But she's almost too thin for a power player. Where's Willow? Your girl is back in action.

ROME TIRO-A-VOLO 100K, r1: 1) Knapp vs WC Lucic bad luck! But Mirjana needs to be able to beat the Knapp-level of player if she's serious about coming back strong this year. What good would it do her to beat players ranked in the 400s-600s? But it would have been nice if she could have faced ONE of those, just to get warmed up, before matching up against the top seed. Still, even if she loses her first matc, she'll be ranked, I believe ~500, and won't have to worry about WCs to get into challengers. And apparently she did get a doubles WC, so she gets more match practice.

I'm keeping my mouth shut because I think the only reason she won't win Rome is if I say theres no reason why she won't win Rome, so I'm not going to say it.

I've detected that Willow has changed her name. And I like that Miss Cuddles quoted herself. ;D Janie, I won't be suprised if Lucic beats Knapp. Mirjana has a far superior pedigree as a tennis player. Lucic is in great shape so one thing she should be able to do is play long matches. And matches on clay tend to be longer than non clay court matches.
