Withdrew from Paris because of "nerve entrapment".
Ok.

What nerve, though? In her shoulder? Strange, and sad

Is that another way to say she lost her nerve?

What nerve, though? In her shoulder? Strange, and sad I'm guessing it's from her shoulder. It's not an uncommon injury after overexerting yourself after surgery, which you do while serving a lot. I had nerve issues in my shoulder, also. If it's the same thing I had, she won't be playing the rest of 2007. And her career is probably over.

If she's "overexerting" herself with 60 minutes of matchplay a week, then yeah, she's done.

Andrew, do you still use MSN/AIM.
Yeah, she's probably done.

But, she's so young, I think she'll keep trying, even if she needs another extended break, if she's enjoyed being back on the Tour. I just hope she's getting expert medical & PT advice & help. She should go to that Steadman place in Colorado Springs where so many athletes go, & get their opinion on her rehab.

Poor Elena. Her health struggles continue. I hope she has the best sports doctors advising her.

Elena isn't that young anymore. She turns 24 in a month. That's middle aged or beyond in tennis. And remember that she went to college during her long respite. I think she probably knew this was coming...

Look, even Alexandra Stevenson, who wasn't nearly as good a player as EB was, keeps trying. And she's 26. Of course, in her case, everyone except her looney Mom wishes she WOULD give up. So I think there's a fair chance that EB isn't finished. But it doesn't matter right now, because either way, here we are, back in wait-and-see mode. Again. Good thing you picked out a back-up player to follow, Leena.

Margarita is also looney, so that might mean Elena returns.
I don't really want her to...
To be out for nearly TWO YEARS, and then for the injuries to keep happening... it has to be demoralizing. I know I couldn't do it.
Elena's made her $1mil+. Go make babies.

With all her struggles and injuries I wouldn't blame Elena if she retires. But I hope that's not the case.

Tennis Channel has been showing Elena's "No Strings" show like every day the past week. I don't know why. Possibly because they know she's finished now... Watch it, it's funny. First, she does some yoga stuff. And babbles incoherently about nothing like she usually does. Then hits with her weird looking coach during like winter conditions, and she looks like a giant next to him. The coach seriously looks like a bum off the streets. Then, training time. Where she giggles doing every exercise. And we get to see Elena in a bathing suit. Nice. This must have been shot in early 2005 when she was in her most fit phase, because her tummy was flat and hawt, and she had some boobage. Her ass is terrible, but we can't win 'em all. Then, she goes to eat Chinese with her mute male "friend". You can skip this, as they literally say nothing for a few minutes here. Filler time. I miss her lots and lots.

Okay, here's the latest scoop from some Croatians at wtatworld: EB has requested a WC into the Zagreb 50K (June 4). However, one WC has already been awarded to Mirjana Lucic , and now, in the latest twist, RG r1 loser Elena Vesnina has asked for one. And of course there are Croatian players that would like one, too. So I hope Vesnina does not do Bovina out of her chance to get her feet wet in tennisland again. Maybe EB could be satisfied with a QWC. Or, she could just phone the TD and say, "But I asked FIRST! I had DIBS!"

A Q WC would probably be a better idea at this point.

If she's serious about coming back, take the quali WC.
We haven't won a match in 2 years.

The Zagreb thing isn't happening; the WCs have been doled out. Don't worry, in future I won't report any Bovina scoops I read unless it's her NAME appearing in a DRAW that we can view with our own eyes. Unless I hear what happened with this Zagreb wc thing; I'll report that. But I doubt I'll learn anything.

But, then she'll withdraw without ever having intentions to play (US Open 2005).

That's a good point. Okay, I should only report when I see an official SCORE of an EB match. There, that should cover all contingencies.

Bovina is back. I hope she's serious about this and makes a great effort to return to the WTA Tour. This may be Elena's last realistic chance for a comeback so she needs to give it her all over the next few months.
