Well, at least she didn't take part in the Kharkov fashion show.

I'm guessing that Elena had the same "injury" that she had at '04 Wimbledon. Got paid off to lose to the popular, and in this case, hometown player. Those Russians are dirty. Elena is 100x worse than N. Davydenko.

Our Elbo magically is healthy enough to play Stuttgart. And drive a Porsche around the mean streets of Germany.
She'll get slaughtered by Serena in Round 1, but she'd lose to everyone but the German WC bumpkins, so who cares.

Withdraw.

Next week is Moscow. Sigh.
So, we'll probably withdraw. Or lose 1-6 0-6 in the MD.
Why doesn't she just retire.

Elena isn't in Moscow qualies...
So, we're getting our tail kicked in the MD. Can't wait!

Also, Tarpischev or whoever gave Elena a WC.
Eat poop.
Yours truly, Princess Alyanna.

Not in MD, either, unfortunately. Of course it would have been ridiculous to play there, but at least we'd know she's alive and somewhat fit if she entered.

Not good. She must be really injured, again.

Seems so. A poster @ wtaworld saw her practicing in Stuttgart lsat weekend and said "she was taped everywhere". But to me, even "taped everywhere" isn't as bad as if it's her shoulder again. We don't need another Alex Stevenson, mired in the 300's for years after shoulder surgery, and retiring in most matches she plays.

So, time to retire.

Elena's WTA Tour profile now says she's coached by Oliver GROSS (GER).
I vaguely remember him from the tour.

Surprise, surprise! EB's on another qualy entry list: SURPRISE, ARIZONA 25K, Jan. 14. In Leena's neck of the woods! I think it's great, seeing her name popping up on these challenger lists. Even if she ends up withdrawing, at least we can see she's thinking in terms of playing at this level.

Oh, we haven't done this yet. Withdraw from a tournament I could actually go to.
I'd really be pushing it by taking a day off this month, but if she's there, I must.
So, she'll withdraw like last minute instead of her usual routine.

I hope not. Last year she only withdrew really late one time, that I remember. I'll be keeping an eye on it, and I'll let you know as soon as I see anything.
I just hope she's not in AZ to work with that creep Font de Mora.

I hope Bovina is fit and focused this year. This is the year for her comeback to take place. I only hope Elena has the mental toughness to take the bumps and failures along the way.

Has she ever played anyone taller? "Yes, my husband, maybe Venus Williams [she isn't] and maybe one other girl but I can't remember her name." - Lindsay Davenport, on being tall.

Could also be Brenda, who's about that tall. And I'm sure they played in the Fat Lindsay years.
Or, even Sharapova. Since she grows a couple inches per year to the announcers, like Venus does.

Elena looks to be in fine shape and I hope that means she's serious about her comeback this year. Yes, she's certainly off to a great start in 2008 -- she's a perfect 3 for 3 in ITF events entered > withdrawn. And it's not a good sign that she didn't even bother to enter the California 50K taking place in the 4th week of the season.

It's early in the season and Bovina has time on her side. But after all of her injuries I can't blame Elena for possibly doubting her comeback abilities.
