I didn't like the name of the other thread.
So, we will complain in here about her "withdrawing" every week.

Time to put this EB thread back on top ...

Let's guess how badly we're destroyed in Sydney.
I'll guess Peer beats us 6-1 6-0.

No way. EB may be out of form, but she'll put up a better fight than that. With her chicken-like coach urging her on!

It's really, really stupid of her to be playing at events of this level now.

Let's hope she pulls out of Paris and Antwerp. There's nothing else to play in January, so it's fine for now.

Elena has stupidly entered Sydney.
Unfortunately, she got a good draw getting Srebotnik, one of the weaker players in this monster field. So, we'll probably win a few games.

Elena lost like 2 & 1 or something to Srebotnik.
We next lose 1r in Melbourne.

3 & 1.
And she went like 4/16 on GP/BPs.

Yikes. She's got to step down to the mid-level challengers and work her way back to wta level.

We lost to Pratt. (Safina's loss doesn't count due to fatigue)
That means we're not Top 100 quality, and should be competing in 25/50k's.

Yep. I don't get why she wants to enter the toughest events right off the bat. I can see doing it once, just to evaluate where you are and how much ground you've got to make up. But once you see that you're barely winning any games, it's time to back away. End this evaluation phase now, Giant Barbie; the results are in: you're not ready for the WTA yet.

Eh, she's collecting big paychecks, so it's worth a shot for now. After she's used up her SR, then she can move down, ~100K richer.
I mean, that's something I think a lot of people miss: "Why does Kirilenko/Hantuchova/Bovina keep playing Tier I/II's when she's on an 8-match losing streak? She could get more points playing lower-tier events!!!!1"
Well, yes, but those $15K-paychecks for first-round losses are hard to turn down when you have to win 4 matches to get as much at a Tier IV. People say "I hope X favorite doesn't get into the main draw, so she can gain points and match practice in qualies," but once you're in the main draw, you've automatically quadrupled your guaranteed winnings in the event. And that's important in a sport like this which requires a huge expense account.
Maybe it doesn't affect Bovina that much, but it's something to consider. Especially with her very expensive heroin habit.

It's only $15K for grand slams... less than $5K for other tournaments. But, I don't think money is important anyway. Elena's made nearly $2 million in her career, and her family was quite well off before that.
I think it's because we're overconfident of our current abilities. And maybe a bit of the clock ticking. We turn 24 in 2 months. That's getting up there in the tennis world. Plus, we're rather slutty and may have that Hingis mentality.

I didn't realize she was still so young. She seems to have been born in a particularly accursed season for tennis players:
Elena Bovina: born March 10, 1983. High rank: 14. Current rank: 1323 Jelena Dokic: born April 12, 1983. High rank: 4. Current rank: 598

Hantuchova and KIMMIE were also born around then.

Kim's b'day is a few months away, but you're right about Daniela. Born on April 23rd of that year, she came dangerously close to being born under the bad sign. She should be grateful she wasn't born a week or two prematurely!

Court 13. Start Time 11:00 AM Women's Singles - 1st Rnd.Elena Bovina (RUS) vs. Na Li (CHN)[19] followed by Men's Singles - 2nd Rnd. blah blah Elena Bovina (RUS)/ Alla Kudryavtseva (RUS) vs. janie-fave Corina Morariu (USA)[9]/Rennae Stubbs (AUS)[9] I'm still not used to the idea that EB is really back. Sure she's losing, but I honestly thought she'd disappeared for good, so it's great just to see her name in these draws, sitting there as if nothing had ever happened. Good for her, entering the doubles, too.

2 losses today. Yay.
Instead of doubles, why don't we plan our trip to that 50k in Hawaii, next week.
I'd tolerate our losses better if we took our comeback more seriously. Instead of only playing major tournaments where we have no chance of winning.
