What dou you mean deserve? You earn things. Sweden didn't deserve to reach the QF's but they earned their way. Same with England, Portugal dominated most of the game and probably deserved to win. But I think the ref chickened out and disallowed that Campbell goal because he didn't wan't any controversy, so in reality I think England earned a victory, but was robbed by a coward ref Unlike England in this match, the Swedes even though they were outplayed in many parts of the matches against Italy and Denmark, at least they were having a go and trying to win these matches, whereas England were not in this case against Portugal, and they got what they deserved. Don't get me wrong I don't mind a bit of 10-0-0 now and then, but sure England lost the initiative and didn't until after Terry scored, decide to do anything different. There are the differences between Sweden and England in this particular case.

Actually I thought England played 8-1-1 like Argentina before the final in WC 90 Yes, Lagerbäck/Söderberg crazy all out attack. That's a 180 degrees turn from how they were in the beginning Now I kind of miss the good old 7 defensive- 3 offensive players days

And five central defenders on the pitch That is the true Sweden football. Not the current fancy schmanzy team

Yes, Lucic and Mjällby onto the team now. And Petter Hansson. Let the Dutch taste the Swedish steel! It's really funny a German and an Englishman defending Italy And calling eachother 'mate' That doesn't happen every day.

It's really funny a German and an Englishman defending Italy And calling eachother 'mate' That doesn't happen every day. They will be definitely stronger defensively and that's a good thing. German and English defending Italy is ridiculous, but they will be nothing compared to our combined powers and I want them to counterattack my arguments, it will be fun.

Ah well. I'm glad I don't have nearly as big an emotional investment in football as I used to, the loss in Euro 96 was utterly painful to behold. Ahh, "used to"? Another piece of the puzzle ;D

Yes, we do need cheering up. Hes not conventionally gorgeous (whatever that means) but theres definitely something about him. Thats what I usually respond to, that unknown quantity. I would call him handsome though. I should learn more about him. ;D Got any links handy? Hes onlz 23? He seems more mature. to you guys, that is a really bitter way to lose. I'm glad you didn't stoop to my level earlier today and be snippy. Hehe, I like the cute player chat Pictures, anyone? Will he be granted his own thread soon?

Ah well. I'm glad I don't have nearly as big an emotional investment in football as I used to, the loss in Euro 96 was utterly painful to behold. I don't mind too much about the defeat, the only really depressing consequence of it is the inevitable GWH gloat that will follow. Just you wait. Hopefully I didn't disappoint Sjengster, though I am not sure, if I actually gloated that much, just called what I saw.

Probably not as bad as whatever you wrote at MTF, but you did your best to rub it in here. The posters here are just a bit more mature and don't get into pissing matches about decisions they can't change

The posters here are just a bit more mature and don't get into pissing matches about decisions they can't change It helps that the average brain size and the ability to think critically is a lot greater here than on MTF. What I said England wouldn't win, and they didn't? Explained why England didn't do themselves in any favours in the game, that's all. If I wanted to gloat, then there would have been absolute laughing and other things like that.
